KUALA LUMPUR, 12 October 2016

Felda Global Ventures Holdings Berhad (FGV) received recognitions from the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) for its accomplishment in embracing the Integrated Reporting concept for its 2015 annual financial report.

FGV received recognition in two categories; “Pioneering Integrated Reporting in Malaysia”, and “Leading Light Award for Integrated Reporting in Malaysia”. The recognitions were presented during the Integrated Reporting Conference 2016 organised by the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

FGV Group President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Zakaria Arshad said the recognition is testament to FGV’s continuous commitment to promote high levels of corporate governance, transparency and integrity.

“We are very grateful and it is indeed an honour for FGV to be recognised by MIA for pioneering Integrated Reporting in Malaysia. We understand the increasing demand from stakeholders for higher quality information. This recognition will give us the drive to continue deliver our business reporting in a sustainable and responsible manner,” he said.

Dato’ Zakaria added, “We have been engaging with our stakeholders and they have shared their material concerns. I have personally taken their views and incorporated them to shape our goals, business processes and overall competitiveness.”

Some of the elements shared by FGV in the Integrated Reporting are the company’s strategy, resource allocation and governance; linking them to business performance for a better understanding of the company.

Present to receive the award on behalf of FGV was Chief Strategy Officer, Niam Othman. The recognition was presented by the Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Chua Tee Yong.

Integrated Reporting is the next evolution of corporate reporting and companies are encouraged to focus beyond financial performance, with an emphasis on the impact of their activities on the economy, environment and society.
