The Sugar Division operates through its 51%-owned subsidiary,

MSM Malaysia Holdings Berhad (MSM), the largest refined sugar producer in a Malaysia and a key regional player commanding approximately 60% of the domestic market. Listed on Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad since 2011, MSM produces a range of products, including refined sugar, liquid sugar, fine syrup and premix, serving both industrial and retail consumers.

MSM conducts its operations through two core subsidiaries, MSM Prai Berhad and MSM Sugar Refinery (Johor) Sdn. Bhd., supported by MSM Logistics Sdn. Bhd., which manages its logistics and distribution activities. Together, these operations deliver a combined annual refining capacity of 2.05 million MT, ensuring a stable and reliable supply for both domestic and international markets.

MSM produces, markets and distributes a wide range of refined sugar products, including white sugar of various grain sizes and soft brown sugar, under its flagship brand, Gula Prai—a trusted household name known for quality and consistency. In addition, MSM supplies molasses, a by-product of the refining process, to industries such as ethanol production, animal feed and yeast manufacturing.

As a key player in the national sugar supply chain, MSM continues to strengthen its market leadership through operational efficiency, financial resilience and sustainable growth, while expanding its footprint across regional and global markets.

MSM Prai Berhad operates the Prai sugar refinery in Penang, strategically located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia. As Malaysia’s largest sugar refinery, the facility has an annual production capacity of 1.05 million MT of refined sugar, contributing up to 51% of MSM’s total production capacity.
