KUALA LUMPUR, 20 NOVEMBER 2020 – FGV Holdings Berhad (FGV) has submitted business zakat payment amounting to RM1,627,565 to the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP), in Cheras this week.

The handing over of zakat by Tuan Syed Mahdhar Syed Hussain, Chief Operating Officer of FGV’s Plantation Sector to Haji Ahmad Shukri Yusoff, Chief Executive Officer of PPZ-MAIWP was witnessed by Senator Datuk Dr. Haji Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs).

Dato’ Haris Fadzilah Hassan, FGV’s Group Chief Executive Officer said, the total business zakat payment of the company for the financial year 2019 has recorded an increase of RM1.2 million compared to the previous financial year.

FGV has paid a total of RM6.8 million in business zakat to PPZ-MAIWP over the past five years.

“FGV is also one of the three largest business zakat payers for bumiputera public listed companies (BPLC) in 2018 with a total of RM15.75 million, 2016 (RM14.86 million) and 2015 (RM15.13 million). Apart from the Federal Territories, FGV also pays business zakat to other states throughout the country where the Group operates,” added Haris Fadzilah.

“The increase in the amount of zakat payments is driven by the business progress and profits of the companies under the FGV Group. We are grateful for the opportunity to channel aid to the needy,” explained Haris Fadzilah.

Penyerahan zakat oleh Syed Mahdhar Syed Hussain, Ketua Pegawai Operasi Sektor Perladangan Kumpulan FGV kepada Haji Ahmad Shukri Yusoff, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif PPZ-MAIWP disaksikan oleh Senator Datuk Dr. Haji Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri (Hal Ehwal Agama).

Dato’ Haris Fadzilah Hassan, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Kumpulan FGV berkata, jumlah bayaran zakat perniagaan syarikat tersebut bagi tahun kewangan 2019 telah mencatatkan peningkatan sebanyak RM1.2 juta berbanding tahun kewangan sebelumnya.

FGV telah membayar RM6.8 juta keseluruhan zakat perniagaan kepada PPZ-MAIWP bagi tempoh lima tahun yang lalu.

“FGV juga merupakan antara tiga pembayar zakat perniagaan terbesar bagi syarikat senaraian awam bumiputera (BPLC) pada tahun 2018 dengan jumlah RM15.75 juta, 2016 (RM14.86 juta) dan 2015 (RM15.13 juta). Selain Wilayah Persekutuan, FGV turut melunaskan zakat perniagaan ke negeri-negeri di seluruh negara di mana Kumpulan beroperasi,” tambah Haris Fadzilah.

“Peningkatan jumlah bayaran zakat ini didorong oleh kemajuan perniagaan dan keuntungan syarikat-syarikat di dalam Kumpulan FGV. Kami bersyukur kerana berpeluang untuk menyalurkan bantuan kepada golongan yang memerlukan,” jelas Haris Fadzilah.
