Employees are a valuable asset for the company in striving to become one of the world largest global integrated agribusiness company. The plantation sector is the core business for FGV as more than 75% of revenue is contributed from that division. Currently FGV employs more than 29,000 legal foreign workers in its plantation sector across Malaysia.
As a recognition for their contribution, FGV has provide its foreign workers with various facilities nearby where they live. All foreign workers employed by FGV are accorded the same rights and privileges as their local counterparts. Our standardized labour policies are grounded in Malaysia’s labour legislation, and is in line with the International Labor Organisation (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
Additionally, FGV’s labour policy is guided by the Malaysian Agriculture Producers Association (MAPA), that provides sets the industry standard on minimum wage and is regulated by Ministry of Human Resources. FGV has a stringent zero tolerance policy towards harassment or abuse in the workplace and our Collective Bargaining Agreement includes insurance coverage of all our foreign workers.
Nurturing and Retaining Our Employees
FGV strongly believes in nurturing and retaining quality employees as they play a pivotal role towards the success and growth of the Group. In line with this, ongoing employee development and training programmes are regularly scheduled to further enhance skills and productivity of our employees, these include leadership development programmes as well as a First Line Managers programme. Focusing on grooming talent, these programmes offer recognized qualifications such as Executive Master in Management (People Leadership) and Diploma in Management (Front Line Leaders). Top performers are identified for participation in these courses which are conducted by private training vendors in collaboration with tertiary institutions such as Asia e-university and the Australian Institute of Management.
