In line with the Group’s strategy to generate synergies though a fully integrated palm value chain of upstream, downstream activities down to its finished products, the Palm Upstream, Palm Downstream, and Research & Development and Agri Services are collectively grouped under the Plantation Sector.
Our Palm Upstream is FGV’s largest revenue earner and forms the core of the company. Armed with a total land bank of more than 450,000 hectares in Malaysia and Indonesia, Palm Upstream affirms FGV’s status as one of the world’s largest CPO producer, producing around 3 million tonnes of CPO annually.
The Palm Downstream is an important component of the Group’s operations as it creates a natural hedge against volatile commodity prices. Our Palm Downstream covers our refining, processing and marketing activities related to the conversion of crude palm oil (CPO) and crude palm kernel oil (CPKO) into value-added products.
As a fully-integrated palm oil producer, we apply innovative approaches to technology through our strategic Research & Development and Agri Services, which helps us to unlock and maximise sources to enhance our operational performance and commercial utilisation across all facets of FGV.
Today, it is one of the largest of such establishment for oil palm in the world.
With the release of the award-winning seed, Yangambi, FGV controls 42% or the Malaysia’s seed market. This is proof of our R&D’s successful breeding programme, and the utilisation of genomics technology for generating superior planting material.
